I Love DH 2 — June 21-23

When: June 21-23
Where: Clarence D Lane Road/South Street, Wyndham, NY

The I Love DH event at Windham Mountain in upstate New York is back for 2013! For those who don’t know, I Love DH is a sanctioned race and slide jam organized by Marc Dean and the guys behind Push Culture News, Brian and Travis Davenport. This year they are expanding the event by adding a push race as well. With three full days of closed road access, there will be plenty of time for shreddage.

The schedule thus looks like this (we’ll get specific times when we can):

Friday June 21st- Push Race and Practice heats, riders dinner in the evening
Saturday June 22nd- Qualifiers and Slide Jam (hosted by Steve Kong) in the evening
Sunday June 23rd- Race

The downhill course will certainly provide for some intense racing with top speeds around 50mph and two crash corners. There are race divisions for all ages and skill levels including Pro, Am, Juniors (1 and 2), Women’s, and street luge. Registration is $212 for your first class and a $25 fee paid at the event for each additional class you choose to race in (if there are too many people on the hill and safety is compromised, the organizers may limit racers to only their first class choice). Both leathers and a full-face helmet are required for anyone wanting to participate in the race (gloves go without saying, as well).

For the dedicated freeriders making the trip, Earthwing Skateboards team rider, and events coordinator, Steve Kong will be taking the reigns on this years jam, making sure it will be as rad as possible. Whatever you are into, this will be one of the best weekends for skateboarding on the east coast, so don’t miss out.

Here’s some video from last years event:

Ithaca Hill Jam – April 27

When: April 26-28th
Where: Top of Buffalo St. (at Eddy St.) in Ithaca, NY

One of the East Coast’s biggest events is back for 2013! Comet Skateboards is putting on what’s sure to be a rad weekend of skateboarding. In addition to the main event on Saturday the 27th, there will be a fundraiser/bowl session at DIY spot on friday afternoon, and an outlaw race on Sunday. Location on the race will be announced at a later date, however inside sources are telling me this is a pretty burly course at around 45mph with some tight corners. For those who weren’t at the event last year (myself included), this is definitely not one to miss. With the slide jam hill closed off to traffic, the guys at Comet will have plenty of freedom to build gnarly obstacles without any worries about the law interrupting our fun. If ramps aren’t your thing, the slide jam hill is steep enough for everyone to have fun on.
