The boys from Eastachusetts grabbed the van and headed from one land of accents to another, meeting up with the AGP Downhill boys to skate one of the south’s most gnarly and entertaining runs, both to skate and watch. This video features the Team Mids homies Norm “The” Plante, East Coast Mac, Pete Laugh, and Tom Leary.
Team Mids took a rather epic road trip this summer down south in search of some legendary hills seen only in legendary films skated by legendary people on legendary days legendary legendary legendary. Sorry, got off topic there for a second. Anyways they boys cruised through the night after leaving Ed Garner’s spot in Maryland and arrived early to link up with the Asheville Ganja Patrol and dawn patrol one of the most epic runs on the east coast, Mordor.
This is another East Coast Mac on the film and edit featuring the steezy stylings of Norman Plante and Pete “Hahaha” Laugh. These guys were going fast together all summer, and if you remember seeing our last post featuring them, they’re not half bad at it…more like really good at it. We’re stoked to see more dank footy outta the homies and can’t wait to see what else they’ve got stashed in the Mids Van for the near future.
Check out the edit and leave us a comment below with what you thought.
Our newest writer and internet video wiz kid Tom Leary dropped a new video a couple of days ago on his personal account called “The Hammer.” Featuring Holliston, MA locals back from college, Eric Roth and Norm Plante, in addition to Tom himself, the video showcases some real fast freeriding and raw as hell runs in the mountains of New England. All three of these guys are getting progressively better every time we see footage of them, this time is no exception. Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments section below.
The notorious Team Mids is out with with a vengeance, locating and annihilating the gnarliest mountain passes of the east. Watch the beastly freeriding of Riders: Norman Plante and Peter LaFreniere, with Kai Salam behind the camera.
There’s a cool company from Cali called “Valhalla Longboards” who are currently supporting two east coast skaters, Norman Plante and Francis Cooper Darquea. Their crew grabbed a camera and flocked to some beautiful Malibu roads and captured some really rad shots. Check out Valhalla on their Facebook page and follow this link for the rest of the photos captured that day: valhallalongboards.com/malibu-fog-photos/
Let’s talk rad new videos shall we? Friends of the site Eric Roth and Nick Burkus have both released two new absolute STEAMERS over the last day or so and I just can’t sit here and not share them with you.
First up Tom Leary, Norman Plante, and Nick Burkus all get together to shred Team Mids’ home turf in Massachusetts and ended up with one of the most badass videos I’ve seen this summer. It’s tons of fun and shows a lot of progression from all three of these guys. Burkus had my favorite part in the video (not just because he gave our I REP THE EAST stickers a huge shout out) so make sure you keep your eyes glued from around 2:20 on.
Next we have Eric Roth’s new video for Nelson/FoeJo where he decides to demolish anything anyone has ever done on a Stingray KT and make most people feel generally inferior about their ability to ride one. Roth takes his nasty gnar style to the next level and shows how versatile and fun that Stingray KT actually is. Rich Nelson came in heavy with the film and edit on this one with some next level boom shots that add that “next level gamechanger” (as Eric would say) feel to the video.

I’m out filming with Team Tangy, Norman Plante, Henry Lancaster-Goguen and others today so make sure you’re subscribed to get the news for when the footy from today drops!
If you’re unfamiliar with Norman Plante we’re about to change that. Norm has been absolutely shredding the scene in the Northeast this season and doesn’t plan on holding anything back going forward from what we’ve seen. He continually goes H.A.M. (for those of you not in the know, that’s Hard As a Motherf…well you get the point) in Stretch House Media edits with fellow Team Mids rider Eric Roth and has been killing it in competitions all over. We decided to snag 6 quick questions with Norm to learn a bit about him and his beard as well as show off two new videos he did for sponsors Eastern Boarder skate shop and Cult Wheels. You can also see him in at least a couple of our edits on YouTube, as well.
Skate The East: Who are you, who do you ride for, how long have you been riding, where are you from — that standard stuff.
Norman Plante: My name is Norman Plante I live in Holliston Massachusetts, have been skating about 3 years now and ride for Cult wheels, Eden racing and Comet skateboards
STE: So you recently joined the Cult Wheels uh…team, or is it cult? Congrats either way! How and when did that happen?
NP: Thanks man! Matt K referred my name to them after seeing me skating at the I love DH slide jam.
They had apparently seen a few of my videos too and decided to offer me a spot on the team. Super mega stoked on it.
STE: What’s been the highlight of the season for you so far?
NP: I couldn’t choose just one, but going to the Ithaca slide jam in NY and showing Ed Garner and Dan Fontz from Maryland around Mass to shred have been two exceptionally rad things to happen so far this season for sure.
STE: What are you looking forward to most for the rest of the season?
NP: Right now I’m really stoked for this years Central Mass race and slide jam in Harvard. Going to be huge, so many crazy shredders from all over the place all at one event. I’m also possibly more stoked to be going to college at the university of Redlands in socal come late august. Don’t feel like I need to explain why I’m excited for that one.
STE: Tell us about the beard.
NP: Color: Brown/Grey
Weight: 91 kilos
But I recently shaved it because im a bitch
Should be back to it’s former glory in about a week or two.
STE: What would you do for a Klondike Bar?
The Newington Slide Jam went down Saturday in Central Connecticut and boy did it bring the HEAT. Riders from all over the Northeast came to compete and shred together for what ended up being an epic day of steamers, we’ll have a full write-up of the event in the days to come. While the event itself was off the hook, it was the after session with Billy Wilson, Team Mids, Liam Morgan, and a handfull of other select guests that had people talking for hours and asking themselves, “what the hell just happened?!” I took a quick break from skating to take some moving pictures and boy am I happy I did. I ended up with just enough clips to string together Volume II of our ongoing video series “Shred Sessions,” which you can find below. I’ve also copy and pasted the description from YouTube below, as well.
Having warmed up earlier in the day at the Newington Slide Jam and beating the heat by swimming in the nearby Farmington River Team Mids, Billy Wilson, Liam Morgan, and many more hit one of the local freeride spots to lay some thane and have one of the most epic sessions of all time. Unfortunately I spent more time skating than I did filming, so this is but a taste of what these guys were throwing. When we finally left the road there was more thane than asphalt in some areas, with triple digit lines all over.
Many of you have been drooling over pictures and asking questions about Orangatang’s newest wheel line, the Balut, since they first announced them and again when we posted our first few pictures of them. Well folks, drool no more because as of today you’ll be able to finally get your hands on a set of these magical new wheels from Californ-i-a. Many good things are being said about these wheels, and not just from me, either. Norman Plante, Ben DeSnyder, Mike Girard, Paul Kent, Jonathan Douglass, and many, many more have all said unreal things about these new wheel, once you ride a set for a few sessions you’ll quickly understand why.
So, since Norm and Ben decided to release a little East Coast warm winter video celebrating the release of these puppies we felt we had to pass it along. Enjoy.
P.S. Don’t forget to enter for a chance to win one of our unreleased stickers!
